Project overview

Scope and delivery context.

HALI established seven Safe Space centres to combine foundational learning, academic reinforcement, mentorship, life skills and psychosocial support for adolescent girls affected by displacement and barriers to education.

How the programme works

The model brings trained teachers, mentors and mentor supervisors together with caregivers, community leaders and education stakeholders. Twelve teachers, six mentors and four mentor supervisors support delivery, while routine monitoring and community feedback help the team adapt activities to attendance, protection and public-health needs.

Progress reported from February to July 2026

All 450 targeted girls were enrolled. An average of 409 girls participated regularly, representing 91% attendance. The programme delivered 16 learning sessions, 16 life-skills sessions and 16 mentorship sessions. These are progress figures for the reporting period; end-of-year retention, examination and transition results will be reported after verification.

Safeguarding and resilience

During a cholera outbreak affecting the project communities, HALI integrated prevention information, hygiene promotion, referrals and distribution of hygiene materials into programme delivery. The response helped activities continue while keeping health, dignity and participant safety central.
