Hallmark Leadership Initiative (HALI) is a registered non-Governmental and non-profit civil society organization based in Maiduguri, Borno State. HALI prime motto is determined to mitigate present set-backs for a brighter future of the marginalized and vulnerable people of the society.
The ongoing complex emergency in Northeastern Nigeria, due to the Boko Haram insurgency and subsequent food security crisis is a deepening humanitarian crisis that requires a robust response from the humanitarian community as well as strong and effective leadership and coordination from the all levels. The emergency has affected all sectors including health, education and protection and has had a particular impact on the lives of adolescent girls, women and boys in the conflict-affected areas.
In 2015 a group of educated, dynamic and like-minded youth working in both the public and development sector, got together to establish an organization, to addressing the most urgent and pressing needs off the people of Borno State and Northeast at large. True to this spirit the organization was named Hallmark leadership Initiative (HALI).
Considering their association with the public and development sector the group was cognizant of the plethora of problems plaguing the State/Zone. Consequently, the organization’s focus was not kept limited either in terms of geography or sector. Whilst operating in different local government areas of the State, HALI has been carrying a range of interventions in the areas of education, youth & women empowerment, health & hygiene, peace building and reintegration, Protection (Child & GBV), Mental Health and Psychosocial Support (MHPSS), governance and accountability, etc.
Although a somewhat new entry in the development arena, HALI owing to the linkages of its members with national & international funding agencies enjoys a diverse portfolio, characterized by partnership with organizations like USAID, Malala Fund, ActionAid Nigeria, International Rescue Committee (IRC), Victims Support Fund (VSF), Ford Foundation, Street Child, World Bank and UNMAS
